The course introduces the following concepts: Fundamental models and methods in quantitative transport planning. Strategic planning models. (Dynamic) traffic assignment. Simulation- and multi-agent-based approaches: Concepts, supporting methods for output analysis, calibration, decision support. Examples based on MATSim (www.matsim.org).
- Previous knowledge expected
-
Recommended prerequisites: Transport terminology basics, basic calculus, basic statistics.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
After successful completion of the course, the students are minimally able to interpret, use and communicate the results of quantitative transport models. The students should even be able identify suitable transport models for addressing given analysis questions. Students with technical background and interest will even be able to adopt and deploy given simulators in concrete problem settings.
