Content

The course enables students to gain insights into the objectives and implementation of landscape planning projects, governance structures, stakeholder constellations, and responsibilities in planning procedures, and to critically evaluate the interaction of planning, legal, and strategic instruments of urban development and climate adaptation and reflect on the content taught.

This course is intended to support bachelor's students who have already completed at least one excursion, giving them the opportunity to complete the second required excursion.

The field trip takes place over two days in the second half of the semester. Various groups are offered. (Field trips to a variety of different case studies in landscape planning and open space planning in Austria)

Registration for the excursion opens on March 1, 2026 (see Registration). Students who have already completed a compulsory excursion will be given priority when places are allocated.
Participation in the preliminary meeting in March is mandatory for participation in the excursion days in June!

Update 27.2.2026:
This course is aimed at students of the Bachelor's programme in Landscape Planning and Landscape Architecture who have already completed one excursion and are still missing the 2nd excursion. These students will be admitted to the course, or given priority (according to their place number). Proof of completed participation in the first excursion must be provided (transcript, collective transcript). Please do not register if you have not yet completed an excursion.
I would also like to ask you not to put pressure on the two course instructors to admit you to the course should you not receive a place. If you are dissatisfied with this arrangement, please contact the head of the institute, Prof. Katharina Gugerell, or the programme coordinator Dr. Rita Mayrhofer. Thank you for your understanding, Katharina Gugerell.
