Previous knowledge expected

Fundamental knowledge of physics

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students are able to describe the materials presented (production, material properties, physical composition, etc.) and name specific characteristic values. Students are able to outline and describe the load-deformation behavior as well as relevant properties for the structural use of the materials covered. Based on what has been learned, students are able to make a material selection for a specific problem from environmental engineering sciences. Students are familiar with basic laboratory techniques for determining relevant material properties and are able to determine these independently.
