Content

This interdisciplinary seminar is a companion course to the 13th iteration of the DocDay mini-conference held in Tulln on October 7th-8th 2026. Participation is possible for all PhD students in the field of bioresources and -technologies at BOKU, and primarily intended for those located in Tulln. All who register must hold a presentation (either Talk or Poster) at the conference as well as attend on both days.
During the first day of the mini-conference, all participants will present their research topics in the form of either an oral presentation or a poster with a flash talk. On the second day, several guest lecturers from both industry and research will give talks about career possibilities after the PhD. In the afternoon, a tour of the research campus in Tulln is will occur, including the facilities of BOKU, the technology and research center (TFZ), the Fachhochschule Tulln and the House od Digitalization. This will give the students an overview of the research infrastructure available at the Campus Tulln and give further opportunities for the exchange of ideas and networking.
Previous knowledge expected

No other courses of seminars are required to attend this one. However, students must have a solid knowledge foundation in their field of research which must enable them to answer critical questions and participate in scientific discussions about their research topic and field.
Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students gain an overview of the interdisciplinary area of Bioresources and -technologies and increase their knowledge about methodologies and techniques applied in this area as well about their possible fields of application. Students will get connected through networking with colleagues and supervisors during the two days seminar. They know about the competences and available infrastructure of their colleagues and supervisors, which will aid them later on in their own research projects and teaching obligations
