In the Bachelor’s Seminar, students develop and write their bachelor’s thesis as part of the Bachelor’s Program in Environment and Bioresources Management (UBRM). The process is largely self-organized and supported by small, interactive peer groups.
The course concept combines independent definition of a research problem, conceptualization of the research project, and thesis development, with peer feedback and support throughout the semester.
The teaching team, consisting of supervisors from various disciplines, offers students a broad range of thematic areas. After the kick-off meeting (see “Course Criteria & Registration”), students select their preferred area of interest (group). Supervisors do not prescribe specific research questions or thesis topics. Instead, students are expected to develop and refine their own research questions and topics independently over the course of the semester.

EXCLUSIVELY students who have successfully completed the STEOP can take part in the Bachelor seminar (This is also applicable for students who changed to the new curriculum.)!
EXPECTED knowledge:
- Basic Techniques of Scientific Working (731130 = WISO100256)
- Data Collection (secondary and primary data, empirical methods) (735185, old curriculum), or Basics in Empirical Social and Economic Research Methodology (735117 = WISO100257)
DESIRED knowledge:
- Project Management (915101, old curriculum) or Interdisciplinary Project UBRM (916113 = OEKB100288)
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After the successful completion of this seminar, students are able to:
- precisely formulate a scientific research question based on literature,
- conceive and carry out an individual scientific project,
- write a text that meets the scientific quality criteria,
- select, process and critically discuss scientific literature,
- present research results scientifically correct, and
- constructively evaluate the scientific work of colleagues.
