The Karl-Schlögl Award 2014 of the Austrian Academy of Sciences was presented to Jean-Baptiste Farcet, postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Chemistry.

The Karl-Schlögl Award 2014 has been presented to Dr. Jean-Baptiste Farcet in recognition of his PhD thesis, performed under supervision of Professor Mulzer at the University of Vienna, aimed at the total synthesis of Bielschowskysin – an extremely complex natural product from corals.  
 
The Karl Schlögl Award consists of a cheque of 3.700,- Euro and has been awarded since the year 2008 to honor PhD theses of excellence from Austrian Universities in the field of Chemistry. Since August 2013 Jean-Baptiste Farcet has been engaged as postdoctoral research fellow in the division of Organic Chemistry at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences-Vienna.
