SFRR-E Young Investigator Award

for Markus Schosserer

Markus Schosserer was awarded with the Young Investigator Award of the Society for Free Radical Research – Europe (SFRR-E) for his poster „Methylation of ribosomal RNA by NSUN5 is a conserved mechanism modulating organismal lifespan and stress resistance“ at the Oxygen Club of California World Congress 2015 in Valencia.

This year’s Oxygen Club of California World Congress on the topic “Oxidants und Antioxidants in Biology” took place in Valencia (Spain). Of the 199 presented posters, the work of Markus Schosserer on a novel protein involved in the regulation of lifespan of various model organisms was awarded.

Markus Schosserer works at the Department of Biotechnology in the working group of Johannes Grillari on aging processes of human cells and simple model organisms, such as yeast and nematodes. Part of his research was already published in Nature Communications this year*.
