Poster Prize

Tim Causon was awarded a prize for the poster entitled "Potential of feature annotation improvements by use of HPLC coupled with drift tube ion mobility-mass spectrometry" presented at the 42nd International Symposium on High Performance Liquid Phase Separations and Related Techniques.

The annually held conference took place in Geneva this year with approximately 1100 international attendees present. The best 10 from a total of 360 posters were presented with awards by the jury.

The work was focused on ion mobility spectrometry, an analytical method which, in a novel combination with an accurate mass time-of-flight mass spectrometer, allows a significant increase in selectivity and detection sensitivity.

A system belonging to this new generation of devices for use in the field of metabolomics is installed at the Core Facility Cellular Analysis at VIBT and offers the unique possibility of the separation of structural isomers according to their different drift times in the gas phase.
