5th Science Film Festival

The European science film festival is held 2015 at the BOKU Vienna.

The European Science Film Festival sf2 will take place in Vienna from 4 to 6 December 2015. The festival is organized by the non-profit organization sf² in collaboration with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Museum of Natural History, Vienna.

A science film competition, workshops, presentations and discussions will turn the festival into an unforgettable event. Stars of science film, first among them Emmy-laureates Sonya Pemberton and Tristian Chytroschek and Youtube-Star Derek Muller (Veritasium), but also scientists like Christian Köberl and Günter Kargl along with the filmmakers will be present and available for discussions and presentations. Following the latest trends in science communication, his year’s festival has the motto Streaming Science.

In the workshop Meet the Austrian Scientists, scientists will have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers and to network and exchange ideas, perhaps even to form collaborations on new film projects. (Please register for this limited attendance event at http://www.oeaw.ac.at/MTAS/)

The festival will be held immediately following the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers, which will this year take place upon invitation of the ORF.

Together with our partner festivals in in Paris, at CERN, in Moscow and Olomouc, we will launch our new “European Academy of Science Film” during this year’s festival. For more details, please visit us at
