The initiative UNIKO MORE is an invitation to asylum seekers in Austria, who want to continue their comprehensive home country studies here in Austria.

With the summer semester the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna welcomes the first students within the MORE initiative. We are glad to support our MORE students and give them the possibility to commence their study from their home country at BOKU.

Every day new enquires reach us with questions about possible studies at BOKU and/or other universities under the MORE project and we are glad to support them.  We are working in a network with the other Viennese universities and are in an active exchange of information regarding the MORE initiative.

Omar is the first MORE student at BOKU and is originally from Iraq. Omar holds a Bachelor degree in Water Resources Engineering from the Baghdad University and is now continuing his study at BOKU under the MORE initiative in the field Water Management and Environmental Engineering. The MORE students in general can attend individual courses until the legal and formal inspection regarding their asylum process and academic background is completed and the MORE students can switch to a full-degree programme.

You can help as well!

The MORE students are mostly asylum seeking people, and the process of applying for asylum can take up to 6 months in which the government cannot support those people with any income.

Therefore BOKU has a donation account for the initiative MORE at BOKU where you can donate money, so we can provide the MORE students with the basic essentials for a study such as scripts, books, stationary, tickets and copy cards. You are also very welcome to support our MORE students as a mentor and show them the everyday university life.
