ClimaProof Summer School on High Resolution Climate Change Projections

From 2. – 6. July 2018, 14 climate change experts from 6 Western Balkan countries participated in the Summer School "High Resolution Climate Change Projections".

The Summer School was organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (Vienna Programme Office), in co-operation with Institute of Meteorology (BOKU-Met).

The programme consisted of both theoretical lectures and practical coursework. A newly developed bias corrected, localized ensemble of climate change scenarios for the Western Balkan Region produced by BOKU-Met was presented, and participants received a hands-on training in handling the data. Furthermore, participants received training on handling the specially developed ICC-OBS tool. The ICC-OBS tool allows the integration of additional local observational data to improve bias correction.

The Summer School is an integral part of the ClimaProof project (full title: Enhancing Environmental Performance and Climate Proofing of Infrastructure Investments in the Western Balkan Region from an EU integration perspective) supported by the Austrian Development Agency.
