Public Lecture by our Fulbright Professor - Prof. Sam Zeveloff, Weber State University, Utah. Date: 16th of January, 2015. Place: Alte WU, Augasse 2-6, 1090 Vienna (AQWU-EG/HO 5).

The common raccoon (Procyon lotor) is one of the most successful mammals in North America. Its distribution has substantially increased in the past few decades, and it thrives in human-dominated landscapes. Concomitantly, it has expanded its range as a non-native species in Europe, and is becoming numerous in Austria. In this presentation, Prof. Zeveloffreviews the raccoon's natural history, and the challenges it poses for wildlife management and society.
