How autonomous vehicles are changing our society

In spring 2016 Dr. Sandra Wachter attended the workshop “Cyber Risk and Connected/ Autonomous Vehicles” at the University of Oxford. Members from academia, government and the private sector assessed the risks and benefits of autonomous vehicles.

The main focus of the conference was on questions such as: Do autonomous vehicles add value to society? Will they increase road safety? What are the major risks associated with this new phenomenon? Are we ready for the future or do we need new laws governing driverless vehicles?

These and other issues were raised at the conference.
