Content:
Participants receive insight into Technology and Biotech Manufacturing Process Lifecycle Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Based on lectures they will understand specific topics of biotech industry including tech transfers, general principles, characterization methods including regulatory, technical, quality and business perspectives. Case studies simulating “real industry life” will enable students to obtain an end to end view on commercial manufacturing, challenges and current practices incl. quality, regulatory, business and innovation aspects. Taken together, student will be able to apply the basic principles and interactions of quality, business process management, operational excellence, technology management and supply chain management

Michael Pohlscheidt received his degree in Bioengineering in 2001 from the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen, Germany. His Ph.D. thesis was performed at Bayer HealthCare AG and Bayer Technology Services and guided by the University of Magdeburg, Germany (2005). From 2005 to 2010, he worked in different positions at Pharma Biotech Production & Development, Roche Diagnostics GmbH, Penzberg, Germany. In 2010 he joined Genentech Inc., Oceanside, CA, USA, first as associate Director Manufacturing Science and Technology, and later on as Director of Manufacturing Operations. From August 2014 to July 2016 Michael was appointed Site Director Global Biologics Drug Substance CMO APAC, Roche Korea Ltd. (Seoul/ Incheon, South Korea) and since July 2016 at F. Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel supporting the global implementing a Lean Production System and leading the improvement of product lead times across Roche Technical Operations.
Michael stayed dedicated to science and its translation in industrial applications. In his time in Penzberg and Oceanside he wrote several papers, manuscripts and presented at various conferences. As a result he could successfully complete his lecturing assignments and Habiliattion in 2014 at the University of Magdeburg.
