Olena Ivanik
Prof. Dr. Olena Ivanik, Head of the Department of General and Historical Geology, Institute of Geology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev. She graduated at the Geographical faculty of Kiev University in 1992. From 1992 to 1997 she studied at post graduate courses of the Geological faculty of Kiev University and defended her PhD thesis in 1998. From 1998 till now she is working for the Institute of Geology (from 1998-2003 as Assistant Professor, from 2003-2011 as Associated Professor, and from 2011 till now as Head of the Department). She has more than 160 publications, including 2 monographs, 4 text-books, more than 60 scientific articles concerning the modelling of Natural Hazards and risk assessment, stratigraphy and facies of Cenozoic deposits, sea bed geomorphology of Black sea and Antarctic seas. Olena Ivanik participates in the Ukrainian Government funded projects: "Modern technologies for monitoring natural and man-made processes for assessment their impact on critical infrastructure ob-jects" (2018-2020), "Development of the theory and methodology of creation of dynamic geological and geophysical models of geological objects and processes" (2011-2015); "Development of methods for two-dimensional digital modelling of the closed mines based on geomechanical and geophysical data integration" (2012-2014); "Monitoring and assessment of natural hazards on the base of the geological processes modelling" (2008-2010); Ukrainian State program of Antarctic research (2000-2005). She was coordinator of the Project "Methodology of the using of functionality of GIS-technologies for creation of the full-weight adapted geoinformation system of separate parts of the World Ocean" (by the Grant of the Royal Society (UK) (2006). Prof. Dr. Olena Ivanik is an expert in marine geology and geomorphology, GIS and numerical modelling of geological hazards, risk assessment. Olena Ivanik is a principle investigator of government projects. She carries out the research of landslide and debris flows hazards in Ukraine, modeling of these processes and assessment of their impact on infrastructure objects.
