Most Creative Presentation Award for Isabella Zangl

We congratulate the PhD student Isabella Zangl from the Institute for Microbial Genetics (IMiG) for receiving the Most Creative Presentation Award in the “Best Science Flash” category at the 13th ÖGMBT Annual Meeting “From Molecular Machines to Translational Medicine”.

Her project deals with the interaction between Candida and lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus). Both microorganisms colonize the human body. However, Candida are opportunistic pathogens, while lactic acid bacteria belong to the healthy bacterial microflora. The presentation shows in which way Lactobacillus fermentum changes growth of Candida glabrata.
