BOKU scientists teach in Kenya

Barbara Steiner and Sebastian Michel led an intensive course on “Phenotypic Analysis to Genomic Selection” at Egerton University.

The course was part of the Africa-UniNet project P059: “Sustainable networks for using next generation quantitative genetics to modernize breeding programs in Kenya”. The project “Gentwork - Genetics and Networks” is a collaboration between Egerton and BOKU University and was organized by Mercy Wamalwa and Hermann Bürstmayr.

Sebastian Michel and Barbara Steiner work in the field of plant breeding and quantitative genetics and are members of Hermann Bürstmayr's research group at the Department of Agrobiotechnology in Tulln. The BOKU scientists were allowed to immortalize themselves in the university's botanical garden as a farewell gift.
