Dr. David Cocovi-Solberg received the Rising Star award at the 23rd International Conference on Flow Injection Analysis (Chiang Mai, December 2024). He presented his work on new valves with potential for miniaturized HPLC systems with integrated sample preparation. Additionally, a Talanta special issue was presented, co-edited by Dr. Burkhard Horstkotte and Dr. Cocovi-Solberg, focusing on microfluidics for automated sample preparation as a front end to instrumental analysis.
At the 23rd edition of the International Conference on Flow Injection Analysis, held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from December 3rd to 7th, 2024, Dr. David Cocovi-Solberg received the Rising Star award „in recognition of his talent, dedication, exceptional career growth, and strong potential for future scientific advancements and contributions“.
In this session, he presented a contribution entitled "New valves for simultaneous bead injection and sequential injection chromatography." In brief, this contribution recognised bead injection and sequential injection chromatography as the most powerful versions of the sequential injection analysis methodology. It also introduced new valves, one of which was patented by BOKU University at the end of 2024, as potential platforms for future standalone miniaturized HPLC systems with integrated solid-phase extraction sample preparation.
At the same conference, a special issue in Talanta (IF: 5.6) was presented, titled "Novel methodological tactics and devices for automated sample preparation linked to separative instrumental analysis.":
This special issue is co-edited by Dr. Burkhard Horstkotte from Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, and Dr. David Cocovi-Solberg. It is dedicated to new forms of fluidic sample preparation and robotics coupled with gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and inductively coupled plasma analysis and accepts contributions between February and September 2025.
