Awarding of honours at BOKU
In an academic ceremony, outstanding personalities were honored for their exceptional contributions to BOKU University: Andrea Reithmayer was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen in recognition of her extraordinary achievements in the operation and development of the university. Maria Patek was appointed Honorary Senator of the university for her outstanding commitment. Pavel Tlustoš was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for his excellent contributions to the scientific disciplines represented at BOKU.
Mag. Andrea Reithmayer
worked at BOKU from 2008 to 2020, initially as Head of Controlling and then as Vice Rector for Finance. During this time, she made a significant contribution to the expansion and renovation of the BOKU sites, creating an attractive environment for research, teaching and technology transfer. Particular noteworthy is her great commitment to the construction of the new Türkenwirt building and the BOKU kindergarten, as well as her important role in the cooperation with the federal state of Lower Austria and the municipality of Tulln in the development of Tulln as a research and science location.
BM a.D. DI Maria Patek MBA
has been committed to a future-oriented and environmentally conscious policy for decades, among other things as Head of the Forestry and Sustainability Section and as Federal Minister for Sustainability and Tourism. As part of her professional activities and through her great personal commitment, she has initiated and supported mentoring programmes and network initiatives for women in the fields of forestry and natural hazard management. In addition, she has contributed to knowledge transfer and the support of young academics as a lecturer at BOKU.
Prof. Ing. Pavel Tlustoš, CSc., dr.h.c.
is Professor of Agro-Environmental Chemistry and Plant Nutrition at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and has been closely coopera-ting with BOKU for many years. He has not only built up decades of close scientific cooperation with the Institute of Soil Research and the Institute of Agronomy, particularly in the areas of phytoremediation and rhizosphere research, but has also played a key role in establishing and implementing joint curricula in his roles as Vice Dean, Dean and Program Leader of the master program NARMEE, as well as in his activities in the Euroleague for Life Science (ELLS).
