The Fritz Leisch Award is given annually to students at BOKU University for outstanding Master's theses that demonstrate exceptional achievements in the application of statistical methods. Particular consideration is given to the fact that sophisticated methods have been appropriately selected, clearly described and correctly applied in a reproducible manner. The award thus commemorates Professor Friedrich Leisch, who headed the Institute of Statistics at BOKU University between 2011 and 2024. During this time, he supported countless master's theses with statistical advice and thus contributed significantly to the quality of the work.

For the year 2025, Master's theses may be submitted electronically by Januar 31st 2025, together with a brief statement by the student as to why his or her work should be awarded, and a brief acknowledgement of the outstanding aspects by the supervisor.
