For career positions (A2 positions) an individual women's empowerment program (Inge Dirmhirn Career Positions Program) was developed to close gaps in the promotion of young researchers. Thus, in the future, the proportion of qualified female professors should be increased in disciplines which show a low number of qualified female professors. As envisaged in the program, this call is targeted only at women!

Motivation for the program

Since the gap between female faculty members and available potential is still quite wide in some disciplines, the Inge Dirmhirn Career Positions Program should help to close the gap. The program offers the possibility to explicitly promote scientific careers of young female researchers.

Procedure

Inge Dirmhirn Career Positions are, as all other A2 positions, part of the personnel structure planning within the department. Thus, a certain amount of newly created positions with qualification agreement are then determined annually.

Naming

Inge Dirmhirn (1925 - 2008) was the first woman who was appointed as professor at BOKU in 1981. She was a gifted scientist, institute director and pioneer in the field of radiation measurement. The "Inge Dirmhirn Career Positions Program" at BOKU therefore provides a strong name for the promotion of women in academics.
