The profession-oriented Master's degree programme in Viticulture, Enology and Wine Economics imparts application-relevant knowledge and skills in the three focal areas of viticulture, enology and wine economics. The programme is offered jointly with Hochschule Geisenheim University (Germany) as a joint degree programme.

Students acquire broad, interdisciplinary theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the fields of viticulture, enology and wine eonomics. These topics are covered in the compulsory module area and can each be deepened and expanded through a variety of elective modules. Specialisation is possible.

The objective of the Master's programme WÖW is to qualify qualified Bachelor's graduates for management and leadership tasks in the viticultural and oenological business areas of the industry or for science. The graduates have the qualifications of an oenologist according to the definition of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV).

Career prospects

The graduates have the ability to solve relevant problems on the basis of an in-depth technical competence in engineering and economics. They are active nationally and internationally in the following areas:

  • in wineries and cellars,
  • in companies in the wine and beverage industry and related industries (supplier industry, purchasing, sales),
  • in consulting and administration (official consulting, food control, supply industry as well as private consulting and development aid),
  • in state- and company-owned research institutions,
  • in research and teaching at universities and colleges.
