ABM4Energy 2026

On 30-31 March 2026, the INWE institute hosted the ABM4Energy 2026 conference, together with partners from AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, KIT Institute for Industrial Production, DLR Institute of Networked Energy Systems, and INATECH Freiburg. The two-day event brought together researchers from more than 30 institutions across 9 countries, reflecting the growing momentum of the agent-based modelling community in energy systems research. The programme featured two keynote lectures, by Dr. Daniel Huppmann (IIASA) on model-based benchmarks for the energy transition, and by Gregorio Iotti (APG/ENTSO-E) on investment models in the European Resource Adequacy Assessment, alongside five thematic sessions, poster presentations, and collaborative workshop sessions covering a broad range of topics ranging from energy economics to energy policy.

We especially thank our scientific committee consisting of Prof. Anke Weidlich, Dr. Christoph Schimeczek, Prof. Dogan Keles, Prof. Laurens de Vries, Prof. Wolf Fichtner, Tara Esterl, and Assoc. Prof. Johannes Schmidt for their rigorous review process, and the organising team Dr. Felix Nitsch, Viktor Zobernig, Gunter Grimm, Kristina Nienhaus, and Thorsten Weiskopf for ensuring a well-run event. Presentation files from the conference are available here.

We are looking forward to the next edition of ABM4Energy which is planned for 2027.
