Using BOKU IT services under macOS

The following instructions describe how to use the most important services of BOKU-IT under the macOS operating system. Currently only available in German.

macOS 15 Sequoia

macOS 15 Sequoia will be released in fall 2024.

We strongly recommend waiting until all important BOKU IT services have been tested with the new operating system before upgrading devices in productive use.

macOS 14 Sonoma

macOS 14 Sonoma has been released in September 2023.

We recommend waiting with an upgrade until test reports for all relevant software products and BOKU IT services are available.

Apple states that macOS Sonoma will be available for the following Macs:

  • iMac (2019 and newer)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and newer)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac mini (2018 and newer)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and newer)
  • MacBook Pro (2018 and newer)
  • Mac Studio (2022)

macOS 13 Ventura

  • iMac (2017 and newer)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and newer)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac mini (2018 and newer)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and newer)
  • MacBook (2017 and newer)
  • MacBook Pro (2017 and newer)

 

The test was performed with beta versions of macOS Ventura.

  • CIFS, SMB access to the network drives: working
  • Filr Desktop Client: currently not working
  • BOKUdrive - Seafile Desktop Syncing Client: working
  • BOKUdrive - Seafile Drive Client: for devices with M1 processor the following has to be considered: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchl768f7291/mac - also MacFUSE must be installed and up to date.
  • BOKUprint - iPrint-Client:must be reinstalled after upgrade, if necessary note the following: https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7024936

  • Firefox: works
  • VPN - Cisco Anyconnect Client: works

  • McAfee: currently not working
  • Adobe Acrobat DC: works

macOS 12 Monterey

macOS 12 Monterey is released on October 25, 2021.

Please note the hardware compatibility list:

Apple iMac: as of late 2015 or newer.
iMac Pro: from 2017 or newer
Apple Mac Pro: from end of 2013 or newer
Mac mini: from the end of 2014 or newer
Apple MacBook: from the beginning of 2016 or newer
MacBook Air: early 2015 or newer
MacBook Pro: from the beginning of 2015 or newer

Please note that the manufacturer Apple usually only provides the last three macOS versions with security updates and upgrade to a current macOS version as soon as possible!
