Lectures in the PC and classrooms
Lectures in the PC and classrooms
In order to ensure the safe and successful running of your course, we ask you to observe the following information and to pass it on to course instructors!
1) Account
All course participants need a valid BOKU account to work on the computers.
2) Software on the computers
On the PCs you will generally find programmes in the areas of Office, utilities, multimedia and science. The equipment in the rooms (number of workstations, hardware, software, etc.) can be found under ‘Software and equipment in training rooms’.
3) Use of non-installed software
Of course, you can use directly accessible, licensed software (software that does not require an installation process) on the local PCs. For security and maintenance reasons, software products that require an administrative installation process cannot be set up at short notice under any circumstances. In the event that you require programmes for teaching and practice in the long term (over several semesters), these can be installed in the next installation cycle. In this regard, please contact us via the BOKU-IT hotline (boku-it(at)boku.ac.at), the responsible colleagues will then check the feasibility.
4) Connecting additional computers
Due to BOKU's IT security guidelines, it is strictly forbidden to connect computers other than those provided to network sockets in the PC rooms. Exception: In the PC room Muthgasse I MUG1-02/78 some network sockets are available for the connection of computers brought to the BOKU public event. However, it is of course possible to use notebooks in the WLAN (eduroam) in all PC rooms.
5) Utilisation of the rooms
We ask that you strictly adhere to the ban on eating and drinking in the rooms. This will help us to protect equipment and infrastructure from damage and soiling. There are no resources available for cleaning the equipment (keyboards). We therefore ask you to leave the workstations as you would like to find them. The course instructor is responsible for leaving the room clean and tidy and for locking the windows.
6) Organisational details
For room reservations, changes of dates and other administrative questions, please contact the BOKU-IT Office (boku-it.office(at)boku.ac.at) . If you are using a BOKU-IT training room for a course for the first time or have not used it for a long time, we recommend that you carry out a functional check beforehand (depending on your schedule) (projector connection, air conditioning, PC operation, etc.).
