Environmental assessments operate in increasingly complex systems and, like our society, face major, multifaceted challenges that influence environmental assessment practice and research. Based on the research project “International Trends in EIA and SEA research and practice 2.0“, topics and trends of environmental assessment will be discussed together with international colleagues. We want to explore how environmental planning practice will develop in the future, how global challenges can be integrated and what contribution environmental assessments can make to a societal transformation in line with the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
