Research to Market Award - Award Winners

The BOKU Research to Market Award seeks innovative inventions and research results that have the potential for further economic development and utilisation. Projects from both basic and applied research can be submitted; ideas and solutions with social relevance are sought.
The award was first announced at BOKU in 2025. All students (bachelor's, master's, doctoral) and postdocs from all BOKU locations are eligible to participate.

Research to Market Award Winner 2025

Simone Bachleitner from the Department of Biotechnology and Food Science receives the award for her work ‘Sustainable production of succinic acid with Komagataella phaffii’. The work presents an innovative and sustainable approach in which succinic acid, an important raw material for various industries, is produced biotechnologically from methanol using a genetically modified yeast strain.
