At the ELLS Scientific Student Conference held in Uppsala on 15 and 16 November 2019, many students of international master programmes were among the winners.

ELLS General Assembly & Forum 'Research and education in a globalized world - the role of European life sciences universities and European University's networks': 14th-15th November 2019, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala, Sweden

 

The Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS) is a network of leading universities cooperating in the fields of Natural Resource Management, Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Life Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Food Sciences, and Environmental Sciences.

The focus of ELLS is on joint teaching and learning, student and staff mobility, and quality assurance. These activities will result in highly qualified graduates, who are prepared for the demands of the European and international market. Furthermore, through the sharing of expertise and resources, this network will enhance the national and international position and potential of all partner universities, as part of the development and implementation of their degree programmes.

Through this network, BOKU realizes many international (educational) projects, like international masterprogrammes, summer schools, scientific student conferences...

International partners are:

  • CAU - China Agricultural University, Beijing
  • HUJI - Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment
  • LU - Lincoln University, New Zealand

  • ELLS Scientific School Conference 2019
    BOKU Double and Joint Degree students awarded

    At the ELLS Scientific Student Conference held in Uppsala on 15 and 16 November 2019, many students of international master programmes were among the winners.

    44 BOKU students and 14 BOKU staff members took part in the ELLS General Assembly & Forum or the international Scientific Student Conference of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS) respectively.

    A total of 100 staff from all ELLS universities exchanged views on the topic of "Research and Education in a Globalized World - the Role of European Life Sciences Universities and European University's Networks" at the General Assembly & Forum.

    The student conference under the theme "Managing Broad Environmental Interests in a Sustainable World" offered BOKU students the opportunity to present their bachelor and master theses in 4 different subthemes. With a total of 260 participants the conference provided an international context for BOKU students to build up an international network with students and teachers from all ELLS universities.     At the end of the conference, the best oral and poster presentations were awarded.
    This year, especially many students of international master programmes were among the winners.
    Of the total of 24 prizes, 9 went to BOKU students and recent graduates:

    The posters of the participating BOKU students will be exhibited at the International Days at BOKU in the auditorium of Schwackhöferhaus from 25 to 28 November 2019.

    We are already inviting all BOKU employees and students warmly to the next ELLS Scientific Student Conference, which will take place from 20 to 21 November at BOKU.
    Abstracts on the topic "The World of Tomorrow: A Green and Sustainable Society" can be submitted from May to mid-June 2020.
