BOKU warmly invites all students to the  ELLS Scientific Student Conference:

Subthemes:
    Shaping the new economy; achieving prosperity within the planetary boundaries
    Creating food in a changing world; shaping systems for nutritious meals
    Following the steps of the farmer; caring for fields, animals and pastures
    Designing sustainable transitions; navigating the intersections of design and implementation
    Resilient use of natural resources; the balance of utilizing and preserving forests, minerals, water and air
    Discovering life's code; microscale innovations with macro impact

ELSA Wanted!

The Euroleague Student Association (ELSA) is not only an important decision maker within the Euroleague for Life Sciences but also conducts many projects, e.g. ELSA organises the ELLS Scientific Student Conference every year. Every ELLS university has 2 members in ELSA. BOKU looks for a new ELSA representative from March 2024 onwards.

-> Are you open and eager to get to know students from other European Life Science universities?
-> Are you interested in improving your learning environ ment by working on international educational projects?
-> Would you like to meet with other student represent tatives physically twice a year at one of the partner universities?
-> Do you want to join and actively participate in designing the Scientific Student Conferences?
-> Are you willing to represent your fellow BOKU students as member of the Department of International Affairs of the ÖH BOKU in the Euroleague for Life Sciences?
 
    -> Then become a member of ELSA, the student association of the Euroleague for Life Sciences.

Communicating (about) Biodiversity
University of Hohenheim, 16.-17. November 2023

The University of Hohenheim hosted the annual conferences of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS)  from November 16 to 18. The BOKU joined with almost 50 students and 14 staff members!
The topic's of this year's networking conference for staff members of the ELLS was "Communicating (about) Biodiversity". Different stakeholders used the panel discussion "Food production in times of mass extinction - starving for biodiversity" to discuss how the scientific knowledge about biodiversity loss can be transferred to society. In conlusion, the panel and the ELLS participants agreed that we need to re-think agriculture.

ELSA the Euroleague Student Association, received the ELLS Award 2023 for special merits within ELLS. Our congratulations! ELSA is not only the voice of the students and an important decision maker within the network, but also organises the Scientific Student Conference.

Under this year's topic "The Power of Science - Many Perspectives on our World" students of all ELLS universities presented their bachelor and master theses. As every year, the best poster and oral presentations were awarded.

In the last study year, 172 students graduated from a joint master programme within ELLS. Two prizes for the best master theses have been awarded:
