AMOWI-Workshop: Commuting-related transport poverty in Vienna
The final workshop of the AMOWI project took place on 1 April 2025 as part of the 2nd Mobility Conference 2025 of the BMIMI. The project focused on mobility poverty and commuting trips in Vienna.
Mobility opens up access to the labour market, making commuting a necessary mobility requirement, often characterized by temporal and spatial inflexibility. Although Vienna's public transport (PT) system is very well developed, there are people who are affected by mobility poverty, especially on their journeys to work. For this reason, the AMOWI project quantitatively analysed the quality of the PT-related accessibility of commuting relations and identified the perceived challenges and coping strategies of those affected in interviews. The aim of this workshop was to present the results and discuss with the participants how mobility in Vienna can be made fairer and more accessible.
