Objective

Live polling and voting during lectures.

BOKUvote - Personal Response System

Overview

Starting in 2013W, BOKUvote has been a software-based Personal Response System for educators that uses mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets or similar to enable students to cast their votes.
BOKUvote automatically recognises mobile devices such as smartphones (e.g. Android, iOS) and automatically loads the specially optimised view.

Teacher / Presentation View

In the course the questions and answer options are displayed by the teachers together with the current voting ID and the automatically updating results on the presentation computer.

Student view

Students access a specially optimised website (https://vote.boku.ac.at/) on their mobile devices, enter the voting ID and select an answer option. Double voting is not possible.

Rights

BOKUvote was programmed by Andreas Diendorfer on behalf of the BOKU e-Learning Team for the Study Services Centre.

Instructions

If you, as a teacher, want to use BOKUvote please contact the E-Learning Support for an account.
Homepage: vote.boku.ac.at/login.html .

Create a poll

Under "Votes" - "Create Vote" the question and up to six choices can be entered. Optionally, an end of voting can be set, after which no more votes are possible. "Do not show results automatically" allows the results to be released by the teacher as not to influence the students.

Launch polling

Under "Voting" - "List voting" the presentation view can be opened with the respective "Private Key". The students are automatically shown the "Voting ID" for this one vote.

Administer polling

Under "Votes" - "List votes" the votes can be edited (yellow pencil). It is possible to save a copy (for further polling) or a modified variant ("Copy voting").
