If presence is possible a field trip with sampling and consecutive analysis in the laboratory is planned.

Soil organisms (pathogens and symbionts) and their interactions with plants will be presented. A speciel focus will be on arbuscular mycorrhiza, fungal endophytes and soil-borne pathogens such as Fusarium and Gaeumonnomyces. Knowledge of the methodologies will be elaborated with teaching videos, coaching units and group work settings.

Previous knowledge expected

The course builds on the basic knowledge of crop protection from the bachelor's programme.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students have a basic knowledge on an experimental set up, sampling and assessments AMF and pathogenic soil fungi. They are able to evaluate plant-symbiont-microbe interactions in the rhizosphere based on their own experience.
