The municipality of Vienna is planning a new urban quarter Muthgasse. A long-term project with very special conditions. There are many different types of use, the area lies between the Danube Canal and the North Railway as if on an island, the transport connection is optimal, while the connection to the surrounding area is missing. The Muthgasse itself is heavily trafficked and currently divides the area instead of connecting it as a central space. The Boku has several locations there and there is the idea to make a campus out of it.
Now the new government agreement states that Austria should be climate-neutral by 2040. This has far-reaching consequences, also for the planning of the Muthgasse district.
In cooperation with MA 21 - zoning and the commissioned landscape planner, we want to investigate within the framework of the LV what contribution landscape planning can make to the issues of quality of life and climate neutrality in the Muthgasse urban quarter and especially at the Boku location. We will also be supported by Boku experts in economics, physics, social science and sustainability research.
