Lecture series with guest speakers and BOKU-teachers

Organised by the BOKU Center of Global Change and Sustainability
in co-operation with the Environmental Agency Vienna and the ORF, with kind support of the Foundation „Forum for Responsibility“, Germany

Most scientists dealing with global developments agree that the world is heading for major breaks; the major drivers, the character of the breaks and how fast they will occur is, however, a matter of discussion. There is also no agreement on the strategies to achieve the sustainable development necessary to reduce or ban ecological and socio-economic threats.

Some guests will speak in lectures open to the public (preliminary program in moodle). The topics they will address will be prepared beforehand and wrapped up afterwards in BOKU internal sessions, based on presentations, discussions, working groups, etc.

Previous knowledge expected

Interest in some of the essential problems the world faces.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Develop an understanding for some essential global ecological and socio-economic developments and for different concepts for sustainable solutions seen from different perspectives.
