Content

target molecules of analysis

molecular-biological methods: sample preparation, isolation, qualitative and quantitative PCR-techniques, probe techniques, chip-analysis, ELISA-techniques, molecular marker,

experimental part: target molecular isolation from various food sources, qualitative and quantitative analysis (GMO-detection)

Previous knowledge expected

Molecular Biology I (lab course) or an equivalent should have been done before.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Participants will have an overview over relevant Methods for the analysis of food and food raw material using molecular biological methods. They will have knowledge of the development of such methods/assays and their limitations with respect to the raw material, effort of analysis, precision and quantifyability.
They will be able to select an appropriate detection/analysis method for a given problem and carry out the practical analysis.
