Alternatively consult the following textbook: Heiko Becker (2011) PFLANZENZÜCHTUNG, Ulmer UTB, ISBN 978-3-8252-3558-1 (BOKU main library, textbook collection , call # 53.40-2/2A) - a very good text book in German.

For Englich speakers: the excellent booky by Rex Bernardo (2010) Breeding for Quantitative Traits in Plants and Rex Bernardo (2014) Essentials of Plant Breeding are highly recommended.
All three books are available in the BOKO library.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Achieving knowledge and understanding in breeding of major field crops. Students will gain the competence of linking their agronomic knowledge with plant breeding goals and types of cultivars. Students will be able to integrate knowledge of genetics and botany with breeding procedures and genetic resources in individual crop species.
