Previous knowledge expected

Basic analytical, inorganic and organic chemistry, some basics of genetics and molecular biology.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students know the structure and the function of proteins, polysaccharides and (phospho)lipids. The action of enzymes is well known and kinetics and enzym activity can be calculated. Based on the theoretical knowledge of the most important techniques in a biochemical laboratory, the students are well prepared for the practical lab course (purification and analysis of biomolecules). Basics of immunology are known and can be applied to daily life.
You can find more details like the schedule or information about exams on the course-page in BOKUonline.
