The course will take place at UFT (Tulln) in December 2022 and January 2023: modules by Adam Studt and Wiesenberger will be held interdigitated from December 5 til 16, the fourth part (Wieczorek) on January 19 and 20. For a detailed time schedule please contact gerlinde.wiesenberger@boku.ac.at

Adam: Bioassay Cochliobolus T-toxin, Fusarium mycotoxins (Trichothecenes und zearalenone). Polyketide biosynthesis. Plant detoxification genes

Studt: Gibberella fujikuroi infection of rice and secondary metabolites

Wiesenberger: Fusarium species - overview, molecular species identification.
Transformation of Fusarium graminearum, plant infection

Wieczorek: Plant-parasitic nematodes and plant defense responses

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Getting hands on experience and an overview about the scientific fields of the participating groups.

Classical and molecular Fusarium Identification, basic knowledge on mycotoxins and toxicity assays as well as introduction to nematods (Methods: PCR/RT-PCR, Agar diffusion test, reporter genes etc., Fusarium transformation, plant infections)
