The lecture comprises the following topics:
fundamentals of mechancis of market-relevenat wood products (1D, 2D)
discussion of the mechanical behavior of connection-systems
presentation of relevant building elements as the basis for the design of timber structures
structural design and dimensioning according to the current standards with the focus of completeness (servicability limit, ultimate limit, fire, earthquake)
special topics (durability, errection and assembling)
In a design project, the students are going to critically analyse and evaluate existing timber structures with the focus of the completeness of the structural design and dimensioning of specific structural elements and connections.

Aim of the lecture is the knowledge transfer of material-specific and standardization-specific fundamentals for the structural design and dimensioning of timber structures.
