Content

Analysis of a given space from a landscape-architectural point of view; conceptual interpretation, preliminary design and design will be worked out.

The following courses can provide important synergies for the Landscape design project: 852313 Design and Planting, 852309 CAD in Landscape Architecture, 852311Modeling.

There will be two groups with different topics:

GROUP 1 - LICKA
For the social project "Vinzihaus am Land" in Mayerling, an open space concept is developed and partially designed in close consultation with representatives of the NGO, the gardener and the residents. The project offers people without homes the opportunity to spend time in the countryside and engage in horticultural activities. A seminar hotel, agriculture and a market garden will be run as permaculture.

GROUP 2 - FURLAN
Is Vienna a climate-resilient green city? This question will lead to the studio's reflection on exploring Vienna's green transition. The central focus is exploring how to integrate a blue-green and soil infrastructure into the urban landscape by establishing a just coexistence with the ecosystem through design. The goal encompasses mitigating urban challenges like heat island effects, biodiversity loss, and soil degradation while designing a living space for humans and non-humans. The studio will first reflect on Vienna on a large scale and focus on specific city areas. Moreover, the studio will experiment with how to design through sections and models. The studio will work in groups, the language is English.

Previous knowledge expected

*Successful completion of the following courses is recommended: Landschaftsarchitektur I, Gestaltungslehre, Darstellungsmethoden, Konstruktives Zeichnen, Projekt zu Landschaftsarchitektur I+II, CAD-gestütztes Projekt, Modellbau, Exkursion zu Landschaftsarchitektur I+II.

*It is expected that the student is able to work independently in the analysis as well as the design-phase and know how to represent landscape architectural plans and presentation posters.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

draft processes in landscape architecture - to achieve an advanced standard in open space design;
subject specialization in the field of landscape architecture on the comprehensive implementation of the landscape architectural design , which is carried out by ways of example and project-related;
The acquired knowledge of graduates include the theoretical discussion of landscape architectural issues and the design process;
Students are able to independently carry out the landscape architectural design in its entire sequence after completion of the course;
The competencies include problem definition , creating the spatial analysis with the consequent written plan and implement the creative proposals in the context of landscape architectural design;
