Content

Production companies are confronted with constant process optimization for cost reasons and competitive pressure.

Optimal planning plays a decisive role in all processes in the procurement, production, distribution and sales phases. Process optimization is carried out using optimization models that map profit maximization or cost minimization in their objective functions. In addition, various constraints must be taken into account.

The seminar focuses on the implementation of specific optimization models using the MS Excel Solver. Special focus is placed on the analysis and discussion of the effects of different constellations of restrictions and the value of the variables.

No previous knowledge is required, but basic knowledge of the structure of optimization models (objective function, constraints, value ranges) is advantageous.

Previous knowledge expected

Interest in applied mathematical optimization.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Understanding and working with mathematical models. Independently formulate and solve optimization and decision problems in production and logistics with the help of MS Excel Solver.
