Content

In addition to the traditional disciplines – socioeconomic history,
the history of agricultural technology and the history of law, this
seminar will cover aspects of medical history, philosophy, cultural
history and the history of every day life. Emphasizing on medieval
times and the Early Modern Period, the seminar will examine nutrition
and health care of the rural population in comparison to the upper
classes. Some time will be spent analyzing the role of agriculture in
German literature.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The seminar will provide an overview of the agricultural history in
Europe and its sociological, economical and cultural implications.
Hence, participants will study the basics of this discipline and,
furthermore, deepen their knowledge regarding some of the most
essential fields of research.
