The students know the terms "system", "system boundary", "enthalpy", "entropy", "internal energy", "heat", "heat flow", "power", "exergy", "anergy", "efficiency", "coefficient of performance" and "Carnot efficiency" and can describe them.
Students know the basic fundamental laws of thermodynamics and the limiting fundamental equations and can apply them to systems.
The students have the ability to calculate spec. material parameters and to describe technical processes in the form of thermodynamic models.
The students have the skill to calculate system and efficiency parameters on practical examples.
The students know technical possibilities for power, heat and cold generation in food and biotechnology and can outline them. They know the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies as well as key figures to describe the systems and their efficiency. They have the ability to plan these systems conceptually and to evaluate offers for plausibility.
