Content

It will be explained how metrological traceability is defined in the context of reference materials. There is an overview of the relevant guidelines and in addition an overview of international standardisation bodies (ISO, CEN, AOAC, etc.) is given to understand how traceability can be ensured in an international context and why reference materials act as a link here. The different types of reference materials, their production, evaluation and quality criteria and their different uses in analysis are discussed.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After completion of the course the participants are able to describe the problems and challenges involved in the international comparability and validity of analytical results in the assurance of food safety and quality.
