Content

(1) General
The course focuses on open innovation; a phenomenon that is increasingly observed among organizations seeking to leverage knowledge from external sources such as universities, suppliers, and users (inbound open innovation) and to exploit internal intellectual property externally (outbound open innovation).

(2) Course content
+ Fundamentals of open innovation (e.g., strategy and culture for open innovation)
+ Inbound open innovation (e.g., lead user, crowdsourcing, communities)
+ Outbound open innovation (e.g., selling, licensing, selective revealing)

(3) Teaching objectives
In this course, the students acquire the latest know-how about open innovation. They will get to know different open innovation tools, how to use them, and reflect on their strengths and weaknesses.

(4) Lecture and exercise: Each unit contains lectures and exercises. A project is carried out mostly outside the lessons. In the last unit, the learnings from this project are presented.
