This course is held in German!

The course "Scientific Work and Theories in Science" consists of a lecture part and a seminar part, whereby the seminar part builds on the contents of the lecture part.

Attendance is recommended for all dates, minimum attendance 75%.

Please register on BOKUonline for one of the seminar groups.


To the content:
- Introduction to the topics theory of science and scientific work
- Literature research from libraries and internet
- Getting to know and using citation rules and literature management programmes
- Components of a scientific thesis and how to structure it correctly
- Practical application of the contents by working on a limited subject area from the field of agriculture and the food industry.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Participants
- acquire basic skills to prepare and present information according to scientific criteria.
- effectively search for scientific literature, evaluate it, cite correctly and comprehensibly and use literature management software.
- have knowledge of the composition and structure of scientific texts, seminar papers and theses in order to be able to write them independently.
- learn to present their results and arguments in writing in a clear, precise and scientific language.
- learn the correct use of figures and tables in scientific texts.
