Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The seminar aims to sensitise students for methods and functions of evaluations in the context of environmental and sustainable development policies. In a first step, some basic concepts and terms will be introduced by means of literature, discussion and lecturing. In a second step the lecturers will analyse and present an actual evaluation example in class and discuss it with the students. In a third step, small student groups will analyse selected evaluation examples, present them in class and discuss them with their colleagues. Overall, students who take this course will get a feeling for the quality of political science evaluation studies, and they will be able to apply different methods of qualitative social science research in their own work.
