Content

The aim of the course is to discuss future-oriented topics for fruit production and current developments for modern quality assurance. This includes physiological and technological processes.
Current topics are:
* Innovative apple production (Christian Andergassen):
- New cultivation systems for climate change adaptation
- Modern technology for quality assurance
- Innovative technological developments
* Challenges for fruit production in Europe for the next 10-20 years
* Fruit physiology: regulation and influencing factors
* Non-destructive technologies for quality control
* Innovative technologies for the field
* Extensive cultivation systems, biodiversity and ecosystem
* Breeding goals and breeding technologies (PROF. Flachowsky - visiting professor)
* Fertilisation and soil management

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students:
- understand the effects of environmental influences on fruit production
- can explain and comparatively interpret current technological innovations
- understand fruit ripeness and can define quality parameters
- can define breeding objectives and explain breeding methods
- understand the function of ecosystem services in the vineyard and can discuss the function of soil microorganisms
