Content

Risk analysis and risk management in agriculture at farm level (decision making problems, basics in probability theory, risk analysis, choice under uncertainty, risk management instruments).

Risk analysis and risk management are dealt with primarily in an agricultural context, but the underlying content is of broader relevance, particularly in agricultural and food economics, but also beyond.

Previous knowledge expected

Bachelor degree, advanced knowledge of farm management, basic knowledge of spreadsheet software, basic knowledge in stochastics/statisticss

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After completing the course
- students know the principles of risk management and can explain and discuss them
- students are able to develop simple computer-aided analyses for decision situations under uncertainty/risk and to make managerial decisions based on these.
