Introduction to multiple-criteria decision making;
characteristics of planning and decision making process;
humans and decisions: a typology;
types of decision problems;
classification of decision-making methods;
selected multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques (Scoring, AHP, Promethee, PBS, ...)
discussion of the pro's and con's of MCDM methods
demonstration of case studies and hands-on exercises

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

- to gain basic understanding of multiple criteria planning methods (MCDM);
- to know strengths and weaknesses of alternative MCDM-methods;
- to be familiar with the selection and application of appropriate MCDM-methods in natural resource management;
