The course aims to give a view into organic fruit production and viticulture. Beside the lectures also excursions to organic farms are part of the course.
1) Applying working methods of organic production to fruit and wine crops
(2) Differentiating the requirements of cultivation systems in the organic cultivation of fruit and wine crops and being able to relate alternative extensive systems (orchards, agroforestry systems, urban gardens) to these along the value chain
(3) Determining the ecological footprint of different cultivation systems;
(4) Recognizing the potential and feasibility of species and varieties that are (still) little used in our region.
